Dogs learn manners before holiday season
With the Holiday season fast approaching and company coming, now is a great time to think about brushing up on Rover's manners! A well-behaved dog is always a joy to have around. The canine juvenile delinquent can ruin a great party.
A five week course in basic obedience and puppy behavior is scheduled for Saturdays, November 7 through December 5. The classes, conducted by veteran dog trainer/behavior consultant, Joan Guertin is sponsored by Friends of the Animals and will be held at the spay/neuter clinic site in Gun Barrel City. Class times will be 9am – 10:30 on 5 consecutive Saturdays unless rain dates are necessary.
Cost of the program is $95 for the 5 weeks and participants who complete the full course will receive a diploma for their pet. A portion of training fees help support the clinic in their effort to stop pet overpopulation.
Participating adult dogs must show proof of current vaccinations including rabies. Puppies 12 weeks and up are welcome and must have had and show proof of at least two of their puppy shot series.
Focus of the classes will be centered on teaching humans how to be the leaders of the pack, using gentle, positive reinforcement based training methods. The entire family is welcome to participate. Private sessions are also available for those who cannot train on a Saturday.
For additional information and directions to the class site, call Joan Guertin at 903 887 3803 or 903 340 7087 and reserve your spot today.
