KC DA offers an apology
District Attorney arrested for DUI
KAUFMAN — The district attorney for Kaufman County has issued a public apology after being arrested in Seagoville on June 18 for driving while intoxicated, which resulted in a collison with another vehicle.
“To my family and friends, to the men and women in law enforcement, to the victims of DWI and to the people of Kaufman County, I can only say I am sorry that I let you down,” he said.
“You deserve better from me.
“Someone in law enforcement is, and should be, held to a higher standard,” he continued.
On June 18, he was stopped following a two-car non-injury accident in the 2200 block of Old Seagoville Road.
It was shortly after midnight and he posted bond a few hours after his arrest.
He refused all breath and blood testing following that wreck.
According to Seagoville Police, Harrison had been driving on the wrong side of a divided roadway when he struck a car that was turning onto Seagoville Road from a side street.
No one was seriously injured in the June 18 wreck.
Harrison was charged with one count of driving while intoxicated.
“I wish I could tell you that I was a perfect man, but I only know of one man who was ever perfect. My family and I have begun counseling. I want to thank everyone who has called or come by to offer encouragement and support.
“You will never know how much it has meant to me. Please keep my family in your thoughts and prayers.”
Harrison said he would not make a decision on his future until he has finished counseling and consulted with county officials.
“I am fortunate to still have the support of our sheriff, the county judge and commissioners, city police chief and judges who have called or come by to talk to me.
“I want the best thing for the county.
In December of 1994, Harrison was arrested and convicted on another DWI charge and was given probation on the Class A misdemeanor.
The incident did, however, lead to his resignation from the Dallas County District Attorney’s Officer, where he had been employed for five years as an assistant D.A.

Consumer Alert
Most Americans will get assistance from a professional tax preparer or tax software when filing their taxes this year. Better Business Bureau encourages taxpayers to use caution when selecting tax preparation help or they may get hit with headaches and mounting fines and fees if the return isn’t correct or filed late.
