GBC council being run by realtors

Gun Barrel City — Dear  Editor,

Well here we go again. Seems the realtor part of the council is running things to keep us in debt.

First the old bank building will cost over one and a half million when it is remodeled. It could have been done cheaper on the 40 acres.

The council decided years ago to move everything to the 40 acres. Now it gets cut-off.

Second, the realtor part of  council wants to buy more acreage, 92 acres and no idea of cost or what to do with it.

One thing, the realtors on council need to abstain from voting on property; does not look legal or right.

Next GBC will have to ask the voter to set up a property tax on our homes.

So speak up.

This letter is more than likely too late and ignored by the council.

Thank you,

Al Perkins, ex-councilman

  • Look Who's Guarding the Henhouse

In 1998 Barney Frank and Chris Dodd were instrumental in getting legislation through President Clinton requiring banks and other mortgage companies to "look the other way" and give mortgages to homebuyers who could not afford the payments on the homes they were looking to purchase.  In many cases, these applicants had no down payment.

  • Fire Dept. issue needs to be resolved

I have been a resident of Henderson County and the city of Tool for seventeen years. I have been appalled by the ESD No. 4's unwillingness to compromise on the use of our tax dollars.  The citizens of Tool voted for an ad valorem tax to upgrade the cities fire department, fire fighting equipment and firefighting training.  ESD No. 4 quickly jumped in to misappropriate our tax funds for their own use.
