Letters to the Editor
To my two liberal friends
Dear Editor,
Carol Price and Mr. Madrino are true far left liberals, they will defend Mr. Obama's policies and ignore facts to a shameful degree.
Let's look at Mr. Obama's promises: (1) The most transparent and honest administration in history---- no c-span for health care hearings--no Republicans in closed door hearings--bribes to reluctant senators.
(2) Unemployment--this 3/4 trillion stimulus bill will keep unemployment below 8%--now over 10% and rising, the real rate is 17%
(3) Jobs "shovel ready" --In New Hampshire $416 million in stimulus generated 50 Government jobs-34 of which were temporary,
Hillary Clinton pollsters got $6 million in stimulus funds and produced exactly 3 jobs!
(4)Taxes--Middle class taxes will not go up (none of your taxes) 2 weeks in office Obama signs the CHIPS bill which raised taxes on 22 million smokers by .62 cents a pack.
(5) No lobbying in my administration--So far he has broken this promise 15 times;
(6) meeting with dictators--Other than a Photo-op with Hugo Chavez this hasn't happened;
(7) Card Check-- Obama promised union leaders that he would overturn secret ballot protections for prospective union members.
(Dan--I think Denna meant that the Unions had taken over the Whitehouse)-- thank God it hasn't happened yet.
(8) Blaming Bush--Carol says that Obama continued what Bush started, and made it "LOOK LIKE" the economy could absorb the tragedy of previous failed policies!!!!!
Mr. Madrano--Below is some research obtained from the N Y times (not from ACORN or Move on.org) One of Bush's proposed policies that failed thanks to Democrats Barney Frank in the house and Chris Dodd in the Senate.
On September 11, 2003, the Bush Administration recommended the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis.
The New York Times reported that the plan is an acknowledgment by the administration that oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac is broken. The Times also reported Democratic opposition to Bush's plan: "These two entities -- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- are not facing any kind of financial crisis," said Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee, Democrats managed to kill that bill.

Look Who's Guarding the Henhouse
In 1998 Barney Frank and Chris Dodd were instrumental in getting legislation through President Clinton requiring banks and other mortgage companies to "look the other way" and give mortgages to homebuyers who could not afford the payments on the homes they were looking to purchase. In many cases, these applicants had no down payment.

Fire Dept. issue needs to be resolved
I have been a resident of Henderson County and the city of Tool for seventeen years. I have been appalled by the ESD No. 4's unwillingness to compromise on the use of our tax dollars. The citizens of Tool voted for an ad valorem tax to upgrade the cities fire department, fire fighting equipment and firefighting training. ESD No. 4 quickly jumped in to misappropriate our tax funds for their own use.
