Lake area man arrested for theft in multiple counties
A quick thinking young man ambitiously eluded law enforcement.
Apparently, however, ambition and freedom don’t always go hand in hand.
Thirty-four year old Dylan Long of Kemp was arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at a residence outside Tyler.
Long is suspected of the theft of several firearms from Henderson County, a stolen vehicle from Kaufman County, and a second stolen vehicle from Van Zandt County.
The first vehicle was used to evade police, then dumped, and a second vehicle stolen to flee the area.
With the arrest of Long, authorities were able to recover both vehicles and firearms stolen from a residence in Seven Points on Aug. 25, authorities said.
The initial arrest concerned outstanding warrants for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle out of Van Zandt, and a misdemeanor capias warrant out of Henderson County.
Long was confronted with overwhelming force by the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, the U. S. Marshall Service, Tyler Police Department, Smith County Sheriff’s Department, and the Kaufman County Prec. 4 Constables Office.
He was then arrested and charged.
Long is being held in Henderson County jail on a $15,000 bond for Release of Surety (UUMV), a $1500 bond for Release of Surety (Fail to Identify), and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
