Car chase ends in Henderson County
Gun Barrel City — GUN BARREL CITY — It was a scene right out of Dukes of Hazard after Henderson County Sheriff's Drug Enforcement Investigators attempted to stop 44-year-old Britt Hambrick of the Cedar Creek Lake area.
The officers were aware that Hambrick had two outstanding felony warrants, so they pulled him over.
Two females exited on the side of SH 334, but Hambrick took off. As the pursuit escalated into a high-speed chase in two counties, seven different law enforcement agencies and the DPS Air One helicopter all pitched in to help.
HCSO deputies pursued Hambrick west over the bridges into Seven Points, where they picked up assistance from Seven Points P.D. who got to use their brand new Charger in the chase.
Still, Hambrick drove swiftly out of Henderson County and in to Kaufman County, where he was met by several Kaufman County Sheriff's deputies, who deployed the tire spikes which messed up the tires on Hambrick's vehicle.
In fact, the deflation resulted in Hambrick's vehicle coming to a stop at the Fair Road exit.
Hambrick was taken into custody on the two felony warrants and on an additional charge; evading arrest or detention in a vehicle. Bond for that charge was set at $5,000 on the State jail felony charge.
He was taken to jail at Henderson County without incident. He has been charged with manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, greater than or equal to four grams but less than 200 grams. Also, possession of a controlled substance with a charge greater than or equal to one gram but less than four grams.
