HINI vaccine will be available in GBC
The Northeast Texas Public Health District (NETPHD) received a supply of H1N1 vaccine and will begin administering the vaccine in Henderson County starting Wednesday, Dec. 2nd, by appointment only. These clinics for Henderson County will be held at locations in Malakoff, Gun Barrel City and Athens.
Priority Groups: Pregnant women • Children 6 months through 4 years of age • People 5 years through 64 years of age with high-risk health conditions • Health care workers who provide direct patient care • Close contacts of infants 6 months or younger.
Individuals that fall into the priority groups must call 877-244-9641 to schedule an appointment for the H1N1 Vaccination. Please remember vaccinations will be given by appointment only.
Health Officials are continuing to encourage people to take the following steps to protect against the illness:
Cover your cough or sneeze with your elbow or tissue • Wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water. Alcohol based hand cleaners are also effective •Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs may spread • Stay home if you are sick and consult a physician.
There will be a H1N1 Shot Clinic at Brawner Hall Dec. 7th from 10am - 3pm. You must call to make an appointment at 877-244-9641.
