TxDOT nears end of busy 2009 with several completions slated
From Staff Reports
The Texas Department of Transportation nears the end of a busy 2009 with several projects slated for completion next year.
TxDOT Public Relations Officer Larry Krantz reports millions of dollars have been set aside for work on U.S. Highway 175, State Highway 198, and two widely-traveled Farm-to-Market Roads in eastern Henderson County.
Work on U.S. 175 from Athens to the Kaufman County line has been underway for several years. It’s part of a master plan for the road to be upgraded to a four-lane divided highway connecting Dallas and Jacksonville.
The current project calls for adding two additional travel lanes to U.S. 175 between Eustace and the Kaufman County line.
The $25.8 million project is on schedule to be completed in the Summer of 2010, according to TxDOT. Concho Construction of Garland is the contractor.
TxDOT will continue to work on the two new bridges to replace the single old bridge on State Highway 198 at Caney Creek on Cedar Creek Reservoir, ultimately allowing for four lanes of traffic. The $21.9 million project is on schedule to be completed by the end of 2010. Concho Construction of Garland, Texas, is also the contractor for the bridge project.
TxDOT projects on Farm-to-Market Road 317 and Farm-to-Market Road 607 will cost about $1.8 million. The work includes about $1.5 million to improve a 2.592-mile stretch of Farm-to-Market 317 in the Leagueville area that extends from the FM 317 intersection with FM 1803 to FM 607. Work on FM 607 will cover about 3.4 miles at a cost of just over $300,000.
Big Creek Construction has been selected for both projects.
