Man stabs brother in Malakoff
An argument between two Malakoff brothers turned violent Saturday, with one of the siblings stabbing the other.
Virgil Lee Jackson, 51, was booked into the Henderson County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Bond was set at $12,500.
The victim, Larry Don Jackson, 50, was transported to East Texas Medical Center with non-life- threatening injuries.
Malakoff Police Department Chief Billy Mitchell said the stabbing occurred at about 7:30 p.m. at Larry Jackson’s apartment on Washington Street.
When officers arrived, they found the victim with cuts on the arm and back. The injured arm was the more serious of the stab wounds, Mitchell said.
The alleged assailant, Virgil Jackson, did not leave the apartment, and was arrested at the scene.
Mitchell said alcohol probably helped fan the flames of the argument that led to the stabbing. The stabbing remains under investigation.
At about the same time, MPD was working the stabbing case, they also responded to an aggravated robbery at the Fina Station on State Highway 31.
The attendant told police that an unknown black male, wearing a ski mask, entered the store, and demanded the money from the cash register. Mitchell said the complainant said the bandit did not actually show a weapon, but acted as if he had a pistol in his jacket pocket.
After taking the money, the man fled on foot. MPD had no suspects in the holdup as of Monday afternoon.
