Stiggers' 40 points too much for Panthers
MABANK — Despite a 23-point scoring effort by Griffin Marshall and four Panthers scoring in double figures, it wasn't enough to put Mabank past the James Stiggers led Terrell Tigers.
Stiggers 40 point outburst was enough to give Terrell an 81-71 victory.
Stiggers hit seven three pointers in the game and 11 of 12 free throws and just four two-pointers in accumulating his 40.
Only one other Tiger, T. Henderson, who had 13 points, could score in double figures.
Adding to Marshall's scoring were Tyler Fisher's 13, and 12 point efforts by Tray Phillips and Jacob Woodard.
Again though, the Panthers gave up valuable points at the line, hitting just seven of their 12.
They continually put the Tigers on the line, and they sank 27 of 39 attempts.
Terrell: 14-17-23-27 — 81
Mabank: 18-9-13-31 — 71
Terrell (81)—T. Henderson 13, G. Kennedy 5, D. Turner 4, D. Simpson 9, J. Stiggers 40, D. Ayers 4.

Lady Jackets punish Wills Point, 60-41
Michelle Ritterbach continued her scoring pace, pouring in 22 points (five of six two pointers and four of eight treys), she also had seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
The Jackets outscored WP 19-8 in the second period with an aggressive full-court press. But Wills Point made adjustments, forcing the Jackets to change presses, leading to four quick steals, igniting a seven-point run and a 35-19 half time lead.
The game was well in hand by the end of the third with Kemp holding a commanding 46-29 lead. The teams pretty much traded baskets in the fourth with the Lady Jackets outscoring Wills Point by a bucket, 14-12.
Kandace Rose played a tough game underneath, scoring 8 points in the second quarter, with 14 points total for the game along with seven rebounds and a block.
Amanda Lawrence had nine points and Brittany Simmons, although only scoring three points, had an outstanding game at point guard, handling the Wills Point pressure with 7 assists and 3 steals.
Brittany also added to her charge total by taking a 24th of the season, which still ranks No. 1 in the state.
The Jackets are 21-8 on the year and 6-1 in district.
"I'm proud of the way the team has responded following the loss to Canton," said Coach Kent Smith.
"We have been playing complete games and our shooting has improved.”
Kemp was 20 of 34 from two-point range (58 percent) and five of 22 from the arc (23percent) for 43 percent shooting overall.

Mineola edges Lady Dogs, 44-39
The Lady Dogs had spurts on offense where they executed well, but poor showings in the second and fourth quarters helped Mineola to a 44-39 overtime victory.
"The reason we went flat in the fourth is because our point guard Jenny McConathy fouled out with two minutes left in the game," said Coach Dalinda Cassell.
"Ashlie Phillips and Harmony Allen ran point for us," she said. "We went into overtime, and I thought our girls played well for not having Jenny in the game."
Allie Cass led the Lady Dogs with 12 points.
Eustace 9-5-15-6-4 — 39
Mineola 8-13-5-9-9 — 44
EUSTACE (39): Allie Cass 12, Harmony Allen 8, Ashlie Phillips 7, Jenny McConathy 5, Catania Grant 4, Megan Renteria 2.
Canton overpowers Eustace, 52-30
Eustace: 10- 7-5- 8 — 30
Canton 14-13-16-8 — 52
Eustace stayed competitive until the third period against league-leading Canton. But the talented Lady Eagles were too good, and the Lady Dogs wound up on the wrong side of a 52-30 score in District 14-3A.
"They are a very good ball team and have had that same tradition about them," said Eustace Coach Dalinda Cassell. "They did not press us and we played well against their man to man. They got hot in the third quarter and we went flat.
"I was very pleased with the way that we played throughout the game," she said.
